i was running the road 3s on my superhawk, i took off a little to fast from a stop sign in the pouring rain, those damn tires did not slip or spin a bit, stood the bike up on end though. so i will continue to run 3s, i dont know how long they last i sold the bike with 2k on the tires and they still looked new.

Sanding them is a good idea. Seems to me there was a post about just that. . What kind of sand do you have in Boston?

I hear you should hit them up with some tire shine too, you know since they will be sitting for a while

I have about 6k miles on my PR3 rear, edges are starting to cup. Grip level is high - my front PR2 lasted 12k miles. PR2 rear got a tear around 5k miles and was replaced with the PR3.
I hate riding and thinking, "these straight roads are wasting my tires", so the PR's are great. I don't feel as nice on my other bike with the Dunlop Q2s, wish better roads - and ultimately less cops - were in closer range.

I probably have many more miles left in them, but i'nm thinking about ditching them this winter for some nice tires. mabey someone on craigslist would want them for cheap.
just been reading a article in Road Rider Magazine, the guy says the 3s leave the 2s for dead, more so in the wet,. run 2s myself and have no problems with them,

It's all relative. LDH could probably run stock tires at 50 lbs of pressure and outride me with racing slicks on.

Personally, I don't ride in the wet (live in the desert), but, I like the stickiest tires I can get for a reasonable price. I don't commute, I play. If I commuted, I'd probably want a harder dual-compound tire.

Maybe I should wait to put on my new tires. That way I don't run the risk of any of the new tires getting a flat spot. I put my bike on carpet in the garage. I like to move them around when I remember, but I've never had a problem. but just in case I'll hold off. Maybe in march I'll install them.
