Has anyone has had a cage put their 9er in its place. I encountered a Nissan 350z yesterday, and the driver gave me "the eye". We ran from about 45mph to the 919s top speed. The entire time he walked away from me. I'm guessing he had turbo, plus some other goodies. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences.
Nope, but can't say that I have ever really raced a car. Closest I came was a BMW M3. He was in front of me at a stop sign and when he pulled out he intentionally spun rocks at me. I easily chased him down and passed him.

a 350z can put down serious torque with a TT spool and intercooler, and cams. My friends s4 stage 3 had SERIOUS sleeper looks but when he had nearly 340 rwhp and awd - it was dangerous. If that 350z had more motor work done to handle more than 9lb nos, and he was running juice and knocked it at his peak range(3700-5000), its easy to beat a bike coming off second gear. Off the line to 60? probably not, but you said from 45+, he's got a lot more torque range plus down force when he slams it at that speed...you, you will lift your front end, lose aeros. Hard to think but its true.
Check this graph out, a 350z can be a menace!

0-60 you should beat the 350, after that it will most likely take over - don't feel bad they have many times the hp and cost megga thousands more than your 9er!
To feel better look up the 0-60 times of many hyper sports cars - lame ........
I just finished filling my 599 up and saw a kit cobra go by.
I hurried up and caught him two lights up heading out of
town on a nice country highway. With those side pipes I knew
he could not hear my motor so I had it spinning 9 grand, I pulled
up along side at 50. We hit it, it was even up to 100 then he
just left me. Four races same result. Later I talked to a friend as I
suspected he knew the guy. Said there was some big $$$ in the motor.
I had a mustang I used to beat on the 600's with about 8 years ago. wasn't cheap but I did it, used to blow those guys minds. Everyone knows a gixxer is this fasterest thing on the planet
I was in a double turn lane on the outside lane waiting to get on the highway. In the lane next to me in front was a new Camaro SS behind him was a Mustang GT (V8). Light turned green and those two gunned it. The mustang even came into my lane mid turn to try and get around the Camaro. He cut me off pretty good. Well, that kind of pissed me off so my wrist just snapped back I quickly over took them both and hit 90 while merging on the highway. I quickly slowed to the 75mph speed limit because cops are notorious for being around this section of the highway. I think both where ashamed of getting beat because they slowed down, but still had enough speed to passed me in the left lane, and both put a hand up as they passed me. I wanted to follow the Mustang and yell at him but I felt his ego was bruised enough by getting beat by the Camaro and by the 9ner. This was obviously a dead stop to 90 (for me) but as others have said I am sure if we were on the highway already and this happened they would both have the advantage.

Being on my ZX10r There's not allot out there that can piss on my cupcake. I remember a guy in a Porche pulled away from me like he wanted to make a statement.
I gassed it in 1st, redlined it into 2nd and it was all quiet on the western front.
Another Porche tried to pull a 'fast' one on San Marcos Pass, a local road here that I like. He came ripping by me in the passing lane, I shifted down and hit it. I suppose I went by him on the flats at about a buck twenty or five on the way to 134 into the uphill left sweeper.
Before I changed my fuel pump, a guy on a Duc 1098 flew by me on the highway 101 here. I rolled her up to about 120 when things seemed flat and had to let him sail on in bliss. Beautiful bike and a wonderful sound.

"One would think that the Secret Service was smart enough to get serviced secretly."
I took a kid on a Gixxer last month in my S4. He obviously didn't know how to ride though or he should have at least taken me off the line, my car's fast (0-60 in 4.5) but not as fast as even a 600cc sport bike.
There are quite a few cars out there that will beat the 9'er mid range speeds. Almost no car can touch me of the line however. I have raced Vipers, AC Cobra, Porshe, Mustangs. About the only thing I haven't raced is a Ferrari. One of my friends has a SVT Mustang that will leave me behind at 50 miles/hr, it is only good until about 120 miles/hr and then it handles like shit. His Viper however will leave me at abaout 60 and I would never see it again. Neither one would have a chance against me on the 1/4 however.
+1......with Bigdaa's ZX10......very few cars could touch my '05 R1....it was fun seeing small dots in the rearview within seconds. There have been a couple times were WRX STI's have caught me off guard though.
On the 9er.....Unless in the twisties, I don't see the point......I just let them go.
Strange thing's happening in Russia
Beaten by a car myself... well going to Germany 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 times or more pr. year, hell yerhh I get beaten by car's more times than i like to think of, Germany is still home of the free on their highways... no speedLimits !
And believe me, the Germans will and can go fast, and have the cars to do'it
Everyone knows a gixxer is this fasterest thing on the planet
I never said it was, but there's very few cars on the street that can beat any 1000 sportbike, unless the rider sucks but it doesn't take a genis to figure that out
Never raced a car seriously on my 919. Look at the problem in power to weight ratios and air drag. A 919 at 485 lbs. plus a 185 lb rider gives you a 670 lb vehicle with about 95 rear wheel horsepower for a ratio of 7 lb/hp. A car weighing 3500 lb would need 500 hp at the wheels to theoretically keep up with the 919. Certainly gearing and skill enter into a real contest. The inescapable truth is all motorcycles have terrible aerodynamics compared to a car. Aerodynamic drag = velocity cubed. Drag co-efficient for a typical car is around .27 to .35. Motorcycles range roughly from .45 for a 'Busa with a tucked in rider to .55 or more for many bikes. That difference in aero efficiency really gives cars an increasing advantage as speed increases. A 919 is drag limited to a top speed of 140 or so. A sporty car with the same power to weight ratio could have a drag limited top speed of near 200.

LOVE the gtr.... those things are such sex on wheels... at a damn good price!
Had a G8 GXP give me a run from 80 a couple times. I'm a big guy though to then add the cold gear and saddle bags but it got us from were we started to were we split in a big big hurry

Common sense. So rare it's a god damn super power.
Had a couple Stangs and such try and suprise me with a fly-by. But drop a gear or two, get in that 6-7000 rpm range and let the big dog eat. It's a good thing they put that dip in the seat or the beast would just throw you off of her. Nothing like a liter bike

When the green flag drops, the bullsh!t stops
Back in the 80's, I had a 900 Ninja, the original real fast bike. A co-worker dropped it at about 15mph, so I made him paint it ($450 back then). While it was getting painted, I had a Bultaco Astro gas tank on it (I was flattrack racing a Bultaco Astro back then), held on with bungee cords, just to get to work and back. Well, one of the ole boys from the machine shop had a pick-em up truck with a hot rod small block (pre-Craftsman truck series, might have been the prototype for the class). It went pretty good for a full size Chevy. Going home from work one day, he rolls up on me and I was in 4th I believe, and he punched it, I stayed right next to him up until about 120-130, like I said, fairly fast truck, finally, he wasn't picking up speed, so I gassed it, redline in 4th, 5th, 6th, indicated 160 or so, that might have been a little faster than the magazines said it went, so an actual 150 or so. By now, I'm about 1/4-1/3 of a mile ahead of him, and he catches up at the light at the end of the road, rolls down the window, and says, "What the hell is that?" "It's a Bultaco 360 Astro, why? Your truck is just slow."
I see him checking it out at work one day a week later, and finally he says, "That ain't no Bultaco man."

that wasnt aimed at you, I see how that could be interpreted as such. just the squids on gsx-r's (disclaimer: I know not everyone on a gixxer is a squid)
I wonder if you downshifted and kept your engine in the 7-9k range.
If yes, then that Nissan has some serious grunt!
We had several "runs" over about 12 miles. The first one I did not down shift, as I did not see him as a threat. The next two runs, I did down shift. It helped, but there was no way I was taking the lead.

Raced my neighborss 98 cobra stang. From a stand still I can destroy him on the street. Car has no traction on street. 1/4 mile I can easily take him. At the strip it would be dead even. We both run 10.8.
0-100, I have him covred by many bike lengths.
100-120, dead even.
120+ his car will walk away from me like i'm loosing cylinders.
My unfaired bike of coarse tops out at sorry 160. His car, has gone 180 and still had more to go. Even a faired 1000rr will only go 180. So I'd still loose.
To add a little more into what Robert4 stated. Bikes do have terrible drag, but they are much smaller. If the math is done a bike an a car will have about the same drag FORCE. The Cd is twice as much on a bike but the frontal area is 1/2, to 1/3 as much. That air resitance force, at a speed, equates to power. The faster vehicle will be the one with more power.
The power to weight is mearly an indicator of acceleration. Which bikes clearly have the advantage. until higer speeds. At which point acceleration is moot. Going from 130 to 140 takes a long time. So the old F=ma formula isn't the driving force anymore. Its becomes a questions power to drag. At which point cars have the advantage. At least any car worth driving.
At about 3min 10 sec, what is the second car on the right?
it almost looks like a vw bug or a TT. if it is either of those cars that is an impressive launch.

looks like an evo at the starting line.
at least theyve got some class shaking hands afterwards and not fighting like some assholes you see in other videos
Years ago I had a puny 750 Nighthawk and tangled with a Porsche 911 Turbo. I stayed with him until about 65mph and he dusted me after that. That's ok...I paid $1100 bucks for the Nighthawk. What did he have in that turbo? $80K...lol. I've got a 2006 GSXR 1000 and I'd like to look up that 911 again...the result would be very different this time around. For the money versus performance, you can't beat a sport bike.

Hay stiflers, why not get a good paint job on that bike.
