Nice write up. Great pics Andrew. It looks like you had a great time. What was the total distance of that trip? You think you could handle going farther? I love the picture of your bike in front of the cop car. Looks familiar. (I'm still not aloud back in Washington)
I would say it's probably the best trip I've taken to this day. The great roads, good weather, and amazing scenery is one thing: Hard to put into words, but just being out there was an adventure out of the day in day out life. On top of that you learn a thing or two about yourself (at least I did) with all the self-time.
Rickard: Google maps has the freeway routes at about 2900 miles. I had aches and pains sure (stock seat, rearset, and pogo shock), but nothing I couldn't handle for a few more days. I would've loved another day or two to explore the NorCal regions, I was going over the maps at a gas station on 36 and the owner, also pro-honda motorcyclist, was showing me some of the roads I can take back.
Striking resemblance doesn't it? The officer gave me a funny look when I took the camera out and started snapping pictures... Banned?? Does that mean you won't be able to come down next year when I try putting a ride together for the Gorge Sportbike weekend rally (highway 14 on the WA/OR border)?

oh nice! That wouldn't be far from my current or new place for that matter lol.I would like to take the opportunity now to offer up my place for anyone needing to save money or do repairs, you're welcomed to stay at my place before, doing,or after the event if needed.

There's also a camp site for participants that include a main tent for food, brews, and in the morning prior to rides a quick session on suspension tuning with guest speakers. MaryHill Loop road is the main attraction along with multiple set routes... but that one being the cherry. Built by a millionaire in the early 1900s, the DOT couldn't approve it as it was too twisty in some parts... there's a whole history thing on it on their page. It closes 363 days of the year from vehicles and is strictly used by runners and bicyclists, then 2 days it opens just for motorcyclists.

From Carmel, I get back on the 1 and make my way towards Felton where 9 starts off and eventually intersects with Skyline Blvd (35). On the way over, something catches my eye at Moss Landing. I swear I've seen one of these motorcycles on a motivational poster before: This was @ J&S Eagle Iron and Leather Shop J&S Eagle Iron And Leather
Felton, CA to 280
I get to the town of Felton where highway 9 starts off. The road starts out in town and eventually as you go further into 9 and away from town, the frequency of driveways become less until finally you you're deep in the forest and the roads starts to elevate and the road gets real tight and windy. Eventually the road intersects with Skyline Blvd (35) where my first impression was, whoever designed this road must've ridden motorcycles. The road could've easily been a straight line but instead it hugs the crown on top of the hill/mountain and follows the contour of the land. More motorcycle heaven, and by the frequency of other motorcyclists, you can tell this was a favorite with the locals. I think I have video of this section still waiting to be edited... I'll post as soon as I have it up:
I get to highway 35/84 intersection where I'm tempted to get an early dinner at Alice's Restaurant (per Voodooridrs recommendation) but the adrenaline and frequent water chugs from the pack (learned my lesson on 299), I wasn't anywhere near hungry. I fill up at the station and back onto 35 I go towards SF. The rest of the road was just as fun, and you get to see a lot of the valley from up top.
I finish up the great ride on 35 and finally only a few minutes out from SF. I get caught a bit of traffic on the 280 and this whole time in CA I've never tried lane splitting except to get ahead of the pack at stop lights... Last thing I want to do is be in an accident at fault because I didn't know the rules/laws. I spot another motorcyclist in between the traffic coming up and decide to follow... lane splitting should be integrated by all states. If not on the freeway, at least in the arterial.

Yeah that pic is just like mine. I love taking pics with the police behind my bike. Banned isn't quite the right word. I never paid the fine i received so they sent me a letter stating my driving privileges have been revoked. The next letter said that there was a warrent for my arrrest. I can still go to the U.S., just not Washington.
