South Eastern Wisconsin destination?

Hey you Wisconsin folks,
I'm looking for a destination in Wisconsin about 1-2 hours north of the Illinois border/Chicago suburbs. Some place has has good eats and nice roads with a blend of twisties and scenery. Not looking for a long distance marathon just a nice day ride with some buddys of mine. Maybe something in the Oconomowoc area.

Anybody got any good rides in that area?

Thanks for any ideas.

I hit lacrosse to Madison. Not sure if that's what your looking for. Wisconsin had awesome scenery and a most memorable ride!

Not sure about the south. You have to go about 5 hours further up and I can help you out for sure. Sorry.

Look for some threads by 2000TJ, he lives down that way.

This one goes a little west for you but just a thought. The best riding really is over by the river. Even the guys around here head down there.

720 mile weekend (SE Wisconsin)

Not really what I'm looking for but thanks just the same. I rode from Chicago to Madison to La Crosse then down to Dubuque, IA then back to Chicago a couple years ago. It was a good ride and your right, the best roads were from Madison to La Crosse & Dubuque.

Yeah, we're really looking for just a couple hours north of Chicago & back. Thanks though. And I agree, the roads along the Mississippi are great.

Going back a few years a friend and I rode from Chicago north through the Kettle Moraine then on to Road America for the AMA superbike races then continued north to Sister Bay. That was a good ride. Couldn't get to Washington Island because the ferry wasn't running due to weather.

Yep Kettle moraine. Um, TJ has a super tech phone/gps thingy but he still had to piece together the twisty bits to make a day of it. If you put in the time, it's worth it. Don't go without planning. hwy 83 is the best I can offer.

Not what you're looking for but how about the Galena/Dubuque area? About 2 hours away and there are all sorts of good roads out there.

Great River Road
Iowa Route 52
Blackjack Road
Stagecoach Trail
Wisconsin's various alphabet roads

Thanks Jeff. We did that route last week! LOL! Went west to Savanna then north to Galena then east home. Ate at a great place called Poopy's Pub N' Grub and then stopped at the Iron Horse Social Club.
