Was just thinking this morning how many members we have laid up with injuries right now. I've got a messed up knee, mayday and esbowman are also recovering from knee injuries, mattf has a broken wrist, robostraub has a torn shoulder, fehren and bowyorang are recovering from hitting deer, ragdoll is all beat up from a 100+mph crash, and new member toycloser has a pinned up wrist. There are probably more that I'm forgetting, it's been a rough late summer/early fall huh?
I'm recovering from mental injuries due to a bird pooping purple all over me while out riding Sunday.
It does seem that when fall started to come around, so did lots of injuries. Everyone needs to heal up quick and get in a few good rides before the weather turns to complete crap.
I was on a group ride Sunday 9/20 with the local Demo club... watched two friends go down on the outside of a left-hand sweeper after hitting about a 4ft pot hole. Happened right in front of me - a nice 749 dark (still "in transit" and red 848)... sickening.
Both escaped injury as it was low speed, but still sad to see it happen.
Hope you're all healing up out there!
I was out mountainbiking Monday evening, fell over in a gravel parking lot (still clipped in) & banged up my left knee
... if that makes you feel any better
I'm finishing up physical therapy from my ankle surgery if that counts. I still can't run, but I'm getting there. I've also been wondering how you go about getting the military service award... Does six years count? Or not. Not that big a deal.

Get well soon and everyone please be more diligent!
With all the ATGATT info, Fs were earned by most on IR. I'm just saying...
I saw there was a new post by you on this thread and I knew what it was about before I even checked. Come on man we are all adults here (haha me less than most) and we understand the consequences of our decisions to wear gear or not to wear gear. The whole ATGATT Nazi thing you have going on is kinda getting old. Wear the gear you want to wear and let us wear ours. We don't need to hear about your ATGATT obsession in every single post you have. I appreciate a reminder now and then, maydays post and pictures are a great example. Do we really need to hear it in every single one of your posts though...?
I also just got a box from newenough yesterday with my new jacket, pants and gloves! I can't wait to test them out in the cold and rain.... Oh look, it is cold and raining out, I'm going riding.

I finally got my bike all fixed up this past Sunday and went for my first decent ride in 3 weeks. Felt pretty good, except any right turn I went around made me kinda anxious. Shoulder still hurts though, the road rash is nearly gone on the leg, and I've got a nice scar on my left hand. (Despite wearing gloves I still sliced my hand, for whoever the ATGATT guy was)

Just be glad you still have that hand... had you not been wearing gloves you might've ground yerself down to a bloody stump. Imagine how difficult it would be to wipe your arse with a stump!
Hell, yes. My crash reduced my lightweight mesh Olympic to tatters, holes in 7 out of 10 fingers, one glove completely open, but not a mark on my hands.
Of course, if I'd had to slide another 10 feet, we were down to skin, but I bought a pair of (better) Olympias on the grounds that they did their job well.
Nothing like seeing shredded-up gear to put its cost into perspective. Is $200 too much to spend on pants with knee armor? If your answer is "yes", you're doing the wrong math.

After losing too many friends (foolish or not) on two wheels and highway fall myself (no leather pants!) it warped me towards being safe, not just for me but my passengers who are not as informed and entrusting. If you have enough money in the bank to fix yourself without becoming a ward of the state, wear whatever you want.
I have those same A-star protecters but I wear them under Kevlar jeans.
I never thought about wearing them under my jeans. I liked them because they are quick to get on/off and I don't have to change once I get to work. I like the kevlar jeans idea, those may be next on my list. Might get a pair of the Veloce safety pants too as another option. I just know I won't ride anymore without some kind of knee protection. My knee is trashed, don't want to go through this again!
Wear whatever you want, it's a free country. I have no luck so I compensate with gear. Your mileage may vary.
Steve
Nice "Mad-Max" Gloves.
