Well, I felt good on Friday. Saturday I started to stiffen up and Sunday was a real bundle 'O' fun. I called the doc yesterday and made an appointment to get checked out as I was not feeling any better. I woke up this morning feeling about 50% better, which is what happens every time I call the doc. I have an appointment for Monday, so I can assume that by Sunday I will be running 12 second 100m sprint. Which would be cool, but as usual the doctor will think I am making this stuff up. I figure it is better to be checked out and presumed to be a kook than to not know what's going on with my limping old man azz.

Other than that I had to scrape the 2 tiny spots of rash on my back up. They were not healing right and i had to scrub the top layer of new skin off. It was kinda dirty under there. Now they are healing up nice.

I have a Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction concert to go to tonight so hopefully standing around for 4 or 5 hours won't hurt too bad.

Thanks for the concern bro.

I held my breath for the entire concert.

I was bummed that I couldn't jump around, but had a good time anyway. We were in the very first row of seats right up front just behind the pit, probably 25 feet from stage. It was a very good show.

All the gear!! I'm a believer--went down in traffic last november, same as you--minor scrapes and bruises, trashed all the gear, torn up just like yours, textile Rocket. Glad you are ok, hope you are feeling better!! Hope you can find the parts!! A note on the road to AK, though, my friend just drove that in his 07 Sierra, he says the "highway" has lots of sections--long ones--that are nothing but dirt washboards with potholes and he doesn't recommend riding it. he's got a VTX and told my friend with a harley not to take the ferry up and ride back-- he thought it would be no fun, and hard on the bike. You could ferry up and back, i suppose, but if he told him not to ride a cruiser, I dont' think you'd be better off on a sportbike. Good luck with the resto and feel better!! D

Yup, ATGATT FOREVER! I'm feeling about 95% now and I am back to work again so that is 2 positives. As for the road, I have read about how bad parts of it can be. I am not going all the way to Prudhoe Bay, just up to Fairbanks or Anchorage. This guy did it on an FJR setting a new record I might add. Ironbutt ride I think if it can be done on an FJR I can do it on a CBR

Thanks. I am good, but I just returned from the shop with the estimate in hand..... $7600!!!

$6600 is parts and the rest is labor and taxes. They listed every part that had even a nick on it, so a couple hundred can be saved there. I also have the big ticket items in hand already like upper, tank, radiator headlight, fairing stay, headlight stay. That saves over 2k. That brings the cost down to the $4000 mark and with online parts sources more like $3k. I will probably get insurance co. to pay for $2k and I will have to cover the rest.

Economically it is a downright stupid move from every angle, but it is like keeping your grandmothers old end table. It isn't worth much $$$ but the memories make it priceless.

Exactly.

Glad the health is improving. The insurance company is most likely "totaling" the bike. Can't you just have them deduct the "salvage" value and issue you a check?

+1 ... I'd want the same if it were my bike. That bike has taken you all over the states. It's more then just a bike in the garage now. Good luck with getting it back together

Don't know yet. I haven't spoke with them since I opened the claim. I'll know more tomorrow or Monday.

Also, I will send you a crisp new $20 bill if you get rid of that creepy avatar

I have to go to a shop, the ins. co. needs an authorized repair place to cut a check. As for the forks, they were inspected at the honda shop and "appear" to be straight. I will check them myself when I get the bike home, and if they check out I'll keep them. Otherwise it is off to Ebay/CL for new ones.

Amazing pictures Slayer.. It's going to make me think friggin again when getting suited up for a "small" ride.

It's great news that you are doing as well as you currently are as I would have been a little stunned to be one of the tow truck drivers that met you to pick up the bike. That looked like a damn rough hit.

Good to hear you're ok and good luck on the rebuild. It's still a great looking bike.

About covers it.

I am doing well. I am at about 98% recovery. I have regained all my previous range of motion in my hip/leg, and except for a little pain when I try to carry something heavy I am good to go. Oh, and I am back to work full time too, that is cool.

What is not good is my ins. claim. I called the claim dept. again yesterday to see if my gear would be covered, and got a resounding NO! WTF? They will replace my helmet, but nothing else. They claim they changed that policy some time ago.

Is there anyone on this board living in Ohio who has made a successful claim of riding gear from State Farm recently?

I'm also pretty sure the bike will be a total loss and I won't get a dime from them for any repairs. My agent is on vacation until the 20th so there is no help from him.

I don't know why I always have to struggle with them. When my trailer got stolen in 2007 I made a perfectly 100% accurate claim without any BS additions to "pad" the bill. I ONLY lost $2k on that one.

I guess they deal with so much fraud and scamming that they assume everyone is trying to profit from a claim.

Your riding gear? As in jacket, gloves, boots etc. ?

When was this? Supposedly they changed their policy recently. I cannot find anything about it.

That sucks, the last three vehicles I had totaled I made at least $2500 more than I paid for them and I didn't even haggle, that's just the figure they came up with. Maybe the difference is I was hit in each instance and they didn't want to be sued but I'm sure you can come to a resolution. You have any lawyer friends? I've used a phone call from one a couple of times, might help.....

I am sure that had much to do with it. This is my insurance co. If the deer had insurance I would be going after them. :001_smile:

This morning I was cycling and ripping a winding descent and had a deer premonition and then slowed down and went wide for the pending blind turns... Sure enough around the very next inside corner a big deer was there checking me out, but since I gave him room he didn't get startled! WOW, I'm going to church Sunday!
