More knee fun......

Well, it's been 6 weeks since I pile-drived my knee into the slab at 65mph.The skin on my knee-cap has finally healed but my ROM is crap! I went to see an orthopedic surgeon on friday and he scheduled me for a MRI tomorrow. From his initial exam and xrays he thinks the knee is structually sound as far as tendons & ligaments go but that I may have cartilage damage in the joint itself. This will probably mean orthoscopic surgery but it just depends on what the MRI shows. He did say I might get by with physical therapy if the damage isn't too bad but he didn't sound very hopeful to me.

So have any of you guys had your knee scoped? How hard was the rehab? How long till you recovered? Did it fix your problem?

Steve

My mom's had it done. It's a pretty quick turn around time, they really do have it done to an art.

Cool, thanks for the insight guys! (and gals!) That's encouraging. I'm not really concerned about going under the knife, been there done that. I'm more concerned with the outcome of the surgery. My knee is so screwed up right now I can barely remember what it's like to walk like a normal human. I just hope to be able to get back somewhere near the ROM I had before the crash.

Good luck Steve, sorry to hear you're still having problems. I'm walking almost normally now and am down to a knee wrap instead of a brace, but still a long ways before it's pain free and back to normal.

FWIW, Ive started wearing dirtbike type knee protection under my street pants. After about an hour, you forget they're there. Bonus: when you put them over your Under Armor, they keep your knee and shin warm as well. $17 at Obermeyer's.

G`Luck with that knee, MD.
