+1 on the overpants. Work great for me. You can wear your work clothes under them during the week and shorts under them on the weekend when its hot.

heal up quick, replace the gear, fix the bike and you'll be riding again in no time.

The rebuilding will begin as soon as I get off these crutches! Need new radiator, tank, bars, levers, mirrors, cowl, and a few other odds and ends. I plan to start ordering parts once the check clears. I am healing but it is slow, I was so sore the next day I could barely move. Knee has severely limited range of motion and I can't raise my left arm higher than my shoulder but all in all I'm doing fine. Started rehabbing the knee today. Can't wait to ride again. Ordering all new gear and this time I'll be getting knee protection too!
I have a set of stock turn signals (front and rear) in perfectly good condition minus the connectors (cannibalized those to put my aftermarket ones on). You are more than welcome to them. Depending on where you work/live in the Dallas area, I might be able to give them to you over lunch or something.

Repair update

Well it looks like I'm going to have to let the dealer repair my bike. Just got off the phone with honda and since the bike is still being financed and the damage is over $2k they want a certified honda dealer to do the work. They said if it's done somewhere else honda still has to certify that it was done correctly bla bla bla. Bottom line is they make it very difficult to get it done any other way. Honda has me by the short hairs cause they have the check from the insurance co. I thought I'd save some cash by doing the work myself and have some money left over for more mods but doesn't look like it will work out that way. I'm bummed but it is what it is........

Ouch man. Glad to hear you're ok (other than the knee). Just another reminder that every breath we take is a gift. Also reminds me i need to get some riding pants.

Sorry about the spill. Glad you're OK. Those pics of your knee has inspired me me to go out tomorrow and pick up those kneepads I've been meaning to get to wear under my jeans. I have some riding pants but they are just to hot for warm weather. I ride about 5 months out of the year in the same gear as you and I have been meaning to get some pads. Get better soon.

It's been a week now and it's still sore as hell but it gets a little better every day. I think my bike will be ready to roll again before I will

Get Well

Man - Looks too familiar to my spill last Oct. Same situation, same color 9'r.
Mine was totaled however - hit so hard I snapped the handle bars!
Bashed my knee as well, although not as bad as yours.
I'm back riding now....but it took 6+ months and a new ride.

Be safe, and heal quick.

Motorcycle Tow Co.

I had my bike picked up today in the pouring rain to haul it to the dealer for the repairs. I used this company called Motorcycle Tow Co. The guy has a very cool setup for lifting/securing bikes, I've never seen anything like it before. He only tows bikes, really cool guy, I talked to him for a while, said he makes a killing specializing in bikes. He is known for taking extra special care of anything he tows. He has a video of it on his website motorcycletowco.com

It got me to thinking about the possibilities of doing something like that myself. I bet that wouldn't be a half bad way to earn a living......

Here are a few pics I took.

Much better than the dipsh*ts that came and got my Nighthawk last year after I totalled it.

Good luck with the rebuild and I hope the healing is going well.

Thanks BK, I appreciate it. The Healing is slow but steady. I think the hardest part of all this will be paying the hospital bill once it arrives. Good thing your nighthawk was already totalled. Looked like he almost dropped it off the truck. My late ex-mother-in-law lived in the colony.(may she rot in hell). We used to go hang out with them on the weekends and watch her little brother play football for Colony high back then. Cool little town from what I remember but that was 20 years ago.

Hope you are doing better. Apply topical vitamin E oil to help heal the wound.

update

Well I'm supposed to get my bike out of the shop this week after $2,600 in repairs but my knee isn't up to the riding yet. It's getting better every day but it is very slow. Gonna take a friend that rides to help me get it home. I have replaced most of my trashed gear, just waiting on the knee to cooperate and I'm back on the road. WooHoo!

Steve
