you can see that instead of leaning into the turn which would have save him more than likely, he was moving his body up over the bike.
Hmmm.... not sure that was the case. From where this sequence picks up, it looks like he was just at the impact point and that sudden contact with a the truck would cause his body to move up and to the left. I forget what the actual physics terms are (hangover), but the mass is still in motion after a sudden stop .... or something like that.

True, hard to tell with the rest of the footage missing as to what really happened. Almost seems staged, since the driver of the truck took no evasive action?
Judging by the impact it doesn't seem that either vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, the bike itself hardly moves past the impact point. He should have easily had wayyyy more lean than that at time of impact unless he target fixated, panicked and stood the bike upright right before the impact.

It probally just happened too fast for the driver to react - If I were betting, squid got over in the turn with too much speed, hammered the front brakes , instead of just leaning over more , and pushed himself right into the truck -

The tag on the front of the Jimmy looks like one from one of the Jacky Jones auto retailers local to SW NC and SE TN. The shot looks to be taken over on Deals Gap. If it was on the Gap; the only option the driver had was:
1. Run over the camera man and his vehicle occupying the turn.
2. Drop off the shoulder of the road which is steep enough to roll the Jimmy several times before coming to a stop.
Up there, aside from driving within your abilities there's often no evasive action that can be taken without placing yourself in greater harm; in cage or bike.

That's where it was "Deals Gap". I forgot to put that in the first post. Good eye!
I'm pretty sure the rider is fine... (not life threatening,) from the Sporadic footage. No long bones appear broken, he rolled with it pretty well...
Looks like a good NFL hit!!! The Suz/ is another matter. Good thing he was wearing something.

Target fixation yes, but too much speed...doesn't look like it from the images. The bike pretty much fell over after the impact.

I tell you , this was just about the WORST thing for me to see last night. I went for a ride on some fairly twisty roads this afternoon and all I could think about was this repeating scene. I got over it, but dang, you took some of the fun out of my ride. (but, at least I didn't outride my abilities)

WOW cant believe that some one would cross that scary scary double yellow in a blind turn...oh well hope he had insurance... and there was no evasive action for the cage to take
Yeah i have to agree this is appears to be a target fixation issue. whether fixating on the outside of the corner or the truck both would run you wide and potentially encourage you to brake too much and stand it up.
Riding on roads like this, Deal's Gap in particular, you aren't even safe in your own lane. You gotta ride the center---even a bit off center--just to protect yourself...and have an exit strategy at all times.
Bottom line......back the f*ck off and maybe you won't live in infamy on the internet.
I just want to know this...if you have that little amount of lean in a corner (2nd photo) then why does he feel like he's going so fast he needs to cut to the far left side of the road in the left-hand corner? Oh...by the way...nice stiff arms.
From watching youtube disasters, I would say the camera was set up in that curve to see some pegs dragging.
