Big + Heavy = Risky

After reading about Uncle George and Babara's tragic GW/GL1800 fall when a cage crashed into them. It reminded me of two other accidents of GWs pulling trailers clipped by passing cages (sadly in one case neither rider/passenger survived). The GW are big enough to easily be seen if the horrible cage drivers were looking. No matter what you ride when your bike's safety space margin is violated you must preemptively make a quick avoidance maneuver (honk, BL/TS, look at the driver, change lanes or pass) to preemptively get the cage's attention and recover your space and reduce your risk. Unfortunately quick reaction time is challenging on a 900lb bike or an extra 300lb of the inertia physics against you. Please maintain an extra HUGE safety space buffer and ride safe!

How you can not see a GW is beyond me they are nearly as wide as some small cars.

it's funny (and not funny) to see a cager come flying down an on-ramp then suddenly mash the brakes and look up at you frightened as if to say " WHERE THE HECK DID YOU COME FROM? "

I was here all the time, bud. Use your side glass.

Lemon i'm sure you've seen it all as a driver but how about a 60000lb tower ladder with all lights, sirens and airhorns blaring? happens almost every day here. the idiots pull out and than as you said look at you,but i've had them give me the finger and/or the old "hands up what do you want me to do look" and obviously get pissed at me. it really never ceases to amaze me.

RIP George and Barbara.

We get George's motorcycle magazines now, nice memory every month to look in the mailbox and see his name on the cover.

Well the lady that rear ended the GW last night while it was stopped at a red light told me "it came out of nowhere". Fortunately 5 other witnesses saw the accident and riders (2up) got away with bumps, scrapes and pain. Wearing full upper gear. BTW bike got launched 30 feet into intersection. I will say if I was ever to be hit from the rear the GW offers pretty good protection. Wing was at a full stop....cager lady...drunk.
