Dear Lord rgweist! You sound like my Philosophy class in school! Or my time studying Descarte! LOL!!!

Firstly, in my humble opinion ATGATT is a choice - this goes to you to Sike. Yes, I would love to see the world running around in top protective gear with MSF certificates to their credit - but that is not going to happen.

rgweist, I don't know that there is any definitive answer to your question especially how you put it. It has infinite answer, one of which is why bother waking up at all since you can bump your head and knock yourself out before you even got to the bike or car.

I would say that ATGATT begins - but does the end is determined by the rider. Any steps you take to get to be "ATGATT" is a step in the right direction, whether it is riding jeans, armoured pants and jackets or a full on race suit. As Rob also pointed out, sometimes no amount of armour is enough. Do the best you can with the best you can get.
