Video editing software?

Hey i was wondering what software you guys use to edit your gopro vids n the like? Plan on getting a go pro soon (i can get em for literally half price) but was wondering what software is nice and easy to use in tandem with the awesomeness that is the go pro.

The bigger question is where are you getting it for half price and why have you not started a group buy? Lol

Depends on your OS. I use pinnacle studio 15 to edit my contour footage. Works quite well and if you get the "ultimate collection" version it comes with a ton of effects/transitions/etc. The downside is the rendering time needed for a lot of the effects so either have a beefy machine or keep the actual editing to a minimum.
For Mac I've been told that final cut pro 10 is a fantastic program though I'm relying on a buddy's comments there as I've never used it or seen it in action.

I would probably just use moviemaker, which is built in to windows. The older XP version is better if you can get it.

I used my mac and iMovie. Holy shit is it easy as hell to do any editing. Watch the tutoral if you have a Mac and you'll see how easy it is.

Very nice! I've wanted that camera for a few years now. I'm getting closer to justifying the price...

For those wanting an onboard camera for cheap, I just picked up a pair of contourHD's off amazon for 137 shipped each. There's a new entry level model coming out from those guys so I think retailers are trying to unload stock of the old model. Differences between the new and old version: old has a narrower viewing angle and lesser quality lens (still shoots damn good video), new has a seriously wide angle lens (lots of fisheye); old has a removable battery, new one is built in; new one might be a bit smaller/lighter but I'd have to look into it. Battery life, memory capacity, mounting options, resolution and frame rate settings are all the same between the two.

FWIW I've been shooting video with contourHD's for two years now and love the little things. Mounting options are a little pickier than the gopro unless you buy some extra mounts but they're much lower profile.

I currently use Cyberlink Power Director for editing. Will read the GoPro HD format (mp4) raw without needing to convert it to anything.

There are Loads of tutorials on youtube for using this software. I am sure there is better out there, but for my purposes it does nicely.
