So I was on the lake today...

GORGEOUS day here in central Minnesota. Think it reached 56 degrees around 3 while I was riding. No way in hell I was going to miss the sun shining down.

A buddy of mine and I went riding after I got out of class at 2. He wanted to check out the "Lake Path" I always talk about. It's just a 15 mile road that runs alongside about 4 different lakes. A small, 5 mile stretch, is twisties and is definitely the best part. Usually no traffic. Heaven.

But I digress. Here are a couple pictures that Connor and I took while taking a break. He's on the Yamaha of course. And the ice is still about 6 inches thick, don't worry.

Ice fishing, no biggie.

Myself and Connor. His first ride since early October.

I need to get a decent camera. The second pic was taken from my Hero, first pic was taken from his iPhone 4.

Loving this weather right now! Unfortunately weather bitch says it's going to be a high of 20 tomorrow... At least they'll start freezing the outdoor rinks again for hockey.

I'm glad you're not out in the middle of the lake haha. That is awesome. Not very many people can get a fun picture like that.

Wasn't too bad actually. Lots of slush on top of the ice because of the warm temps. I thought I was going to lose my footing at some point, but never happened.

Haha we weren't actually fishing, just wanted the picture. If we had brought a small auger with I definitely would've stayed out and did some fishing. We were maybe 20 yards out in the first pic, and it wasn't bad at all. Like I said above, the slush made it grippy enough for the rear wheel. Was tempting to try and spin the rear wheel all over, but I pussed out.

Great pictures! Thanks for shareing. I did a little 20 min. ride lastnight after work, 53 deg. in January feels good. Rear tire sure did spin easy though with the cold pavement. Felt good to be on the bike!

did you even bother to warm up your tires? remember, cold tires dont cause crashes, rider error does.... dont ride outside your limits as well as the tire's limits in any given situation.

with that said, warming up the tires is easy to do and can be done in less than 5 minutes (time varies on your areas) then you're ready to shred.

Yesterday wasn't a bad riding day. Not only did I have the 919 out, the Virginia Beach's finest had there BMWs out writing tickets...

Lucky for my driving record he pulled over the car that was in front of me.

Ok cool, I'm a bit familiar with the suburbs. My dad lives in Bloomington, couple miles off Old Shakopee. Will definitely try and remember to give you a shout for a ride sometime. Would be cool if we could get all the MN guys together for a ride.

Great pixs of the 919 on the ice!

I'm a couple of hours west of the Cities but my son lives in Prior Lake and I

get over there quite often to ride with him... will have to get together

sometime. I didn't get out yesterday but here a couple of pix from New

Years Eve Day riding with a buddy on his "pond" in northern MN. I'm the one

on the right, riding my buddy's YZF450.

Definitely man! And those are some awesome pics. Are those tires studded? I really want to get a cheap dirtbike and throw some studs on it, and mess around in the snow, and on the lakes / ponds like you're doing. Looks like an absolute blast!

yeah they are purpose built tires...cost about 300 each but there are

cheaper ways to go if you are just play riding. I posted a close up on

another thread...can't remeber which right off hand, must be old age.

The guy I'm riding with used to race supermoto in Cokato, just up the

road from you. Are you planning on attending the bike show in Feb.?

Grew up in Cokato actually. They supermoto at the go kart track there right? Never seen a race there, but go karted a ton there. Helps when you have buddies that work there.

I hope I can make it up to the show. It's the first weekend in Feb right?

Well hell yeah NoDak dude! I lived in Fargo for a year going to school at NDSU. Too flat and too windy to stay there longer than that though.
