cool vids, indeed, nd4spdbh!

my favorite section of Mulholland is actually east of the Snake and Rock Store, west of Las Virgenes... It's a more medium speed road with smooth, wide turns.

LINK: Google Maps

here's a nice satellite shot of the Snake:

Trip to Mt high on the 919.

So Its early january... no snowfall here in over a month... which blows... weather has been mild... i finally got fed up and said ok... well ill make it worth my while to go play at mt high (where i have a season pass) and strap the mini skis to the back of the 919 and make the 230mi round trip to mt high.

This was the route i took. the B to C section is where the "front part of hwy 2" video was taken. D to E is the Big pines video (will be posted in a bit still gotta edit and upload) E is mt high itself..... and the section E to F was the "closed section" and why i took the angeles forest hwy around the back on the way there.... in fact that section was open and i took it home... god damn was it beautiful.

Santa Rosa Rd to Santa Rosa Rd - Google Maps

I was kinda pissed when i pulled out the gopro i realized i didnt have the closed back door... so i wasnt gonna risk it and shoot video on the runs... o well.

And the front part of the 2.

and pics

On the mtn... no one around

View from the top... thats catalina island.... as in theres 28ish miles of ocean somewhere in there.

A view from the "closed" section of the 2.

My 919 has officially touched snow.

This is mt waterman... where i learned to ski probably 10 yrs ago... its sad to see it with such little snow...

From yesterday.... crazy buddy on his supermoto getting too cocky for the camera.

He rode off without much problem... bars a lil bent and the tip of the shifter broken off... but otherwise just fine... hes just a nutzo.... we are all glad he only has a stock drz400 power to play with.

Let me guess, too much grab too quick on the front, tire slipped, so he let off and switched to the rear, which locked, and well.....

Glad he didn't do that near any cars. You need to tell your buddy to tone down near the vehicles and save that stuff for a track, it only takes ONE of those near an 18 wheeler...

Nice vid.

honestly those wheelies wernt that high in the rpms... MAYBE 6k... just had the right spot in the road. And yes stock exhaust. In the super tight stuff those drz's just walk away like no ones business... once things open up a lil... its over though.

^ i <3 the dirt. Been riding dirt since i was 10... so 12 yrs now, definitely makes you more confident in the street.... plus dirt is far FAR less hard on the body when you eat it.

919 stealth mode.... thats why i love it! if only i could somehow transform it into something with at least 10 in of suspension and dirt tires at the push of a button. Its hard for me to ride that off road... as im so used to my crf250 with 12.5in front and rear, grippy tires.... and only 35hp. something that will spin the rear tire to 50mph before you can think is quite a task to ride in the dirt... thats why ull see me often in 2nd gear lugging it where i would be in first at the same speed on the street. I have yet to get stuck or not make it up something i set out to (knock on wood)... but i know mine and the bikes limitations off road

Gotta say great choice in music on that last vid. Also looked fun riding down that dirt road - I'll flog my dirt bike all day, but my street bike just makes my butt pucker off pavement at speed.

its cool to find all the random dirt roads up in the mtns by me they lead to some really cool places. Like stated before its not THAT bad on the 919 in dirt.... you just have to be concious of 1. street tires... which alot of people think will instantly fall out from underneath the bike as soon as they hit dirt which is not true... you would be surprised at how much front break you can grab.... and 2. weight ... its heavy so not manuverable.... and to a lesser extent ground clearance but thats not that big of an issue for the most part.

It just so happened that on this vid at slower speeds allowed me to keep the audio of the actual vid up so you get the motor noise etc which i think worked out real good with the music.

Im workin on rigging up an external mic to the Hero 2 via a modded case (gonna test with a skeleton case first then drill into a full waterproof one) to see if i can get some better sound at speed by hiding a mic say in my helmet out of the wind or something.

If it wasn't so expensive I would so move out to Cali. Had the opertunity to move out to the Lom Poc area but that pay wasn't going to be enough to even afford a decent place for me and my wife. Only thing to make that better is if you showed us you taken your skis and boots off changing to your riding boots and jumping on your bike.

haha, ya but its very tiring to ride 230 mi round trip, and throw in a couple hours of skiing on those little things... they are much harder on the legs than normal skis haha.

Pluss... bout halfway up the back road to get to mt high on vday, it started to get real icy as they got some snow that night haha.

nope. (knocks on wood) its something you just kind of expect and deal with, the roads themselves are usually pretty clean, so you stay in the tire tracks area of the cars.
