Shoei RF-1100

Anybody know when the new Shoei RF-1100 will be available? I've been doing some research and I think I want one.

I've tried on the RF-1000 and I like the fit. The new RF-1100 is supposed to be at least as quiet as the RF-1000 and have better ventilation and a larger visor.

If the RF-1100 will be available like any day, I think I want one.

I know I could get an awesome deal on the RF-1000 or X-11 right now but I think the updated features might be worth the extra coin.

Anybody have any info on availability?

Looking forward to seeing it. I saw a picture on motorcyclenews.com a while back, but it was just a teaser. Really thought it would be available by now.

I hope they come out soon so I can see if X-11's drop in price. They will stick rock the RF's since RF's are just "filler" helmets to suit people who kind of want a good helmet.

On the X-11 subject, I've seen some pretty good deals on them lately ~$400. From what I've read they are pretty noisy. The RF-1100 allegedly has the ventilation of the X-11 but quieter than the RF-1000. Check out compacc dot com.

FYI in case anyone is interested.

I asked shoei about the RF-1100 through their web site. I got an email saying they will be out October 1.

Meanwhile, I ordered a HJC CL-15 from NewEnough for like $80. I'll probably get the RF-1100 later, maybe Christmas.

Meanwhile, I guess I have an $80 head :-)

"Bikeless at the moment?"

Your next purchase ought be a bike to go with said helmet?

If things go according to plan, I'll be buying said bike (a 919) on 9/19

Date is just a coincidence - really.

I was thinking that when I actually get the bike, it would be nice to already have a decent helmet, jacket, gloves, etc. so I can safely ride it! YeeeeHaaaaaa!!!!!!

Can't wait. Unfortunately, I have to wait just a little longer. tick........tock......

i won't buy another "snell" rated helmet after spending some quality time reading this

Motorcycle Helmet Design, Helmet Standards and Head Protection - Gear Box - Motorcyclist Online

the snell rating is a crock of poop.... i now have 3 helmets... 1 arai..*(which although it is snell i will keep till its wore out) 1 shark *(a s500air from europe ece.22.05 rated) and a agv demon *(from italy also ece 22.05 rated)

i will be buying a suomy vandal with the atlantic city scheme Suomy Vandal Atlantic City Gambler Full Face Helmet LG:eBay Motors (item 380166627112 end time Nov-08-09 16:47:42 PST)

and i will swap off between the 4 ...

we have been lied to about snell....

Snell is poop but The Shoei X-11's feel like they were molded for my weird head so I'm gong that route. Who knows, maybe next time I crash I'll be impacted on my helmet in the exact same spot 2-3 times and will be glad it's Snell'd :P

They changed snell for 2010, and the RF1100 conforms to the new snell not the old controversial one.

The 1100 is nice, i was looking at one last weekend. Fits just like the 1000. I'm more interested in the x12 myself though, and they are "out" but none of the dealers will order them because they only sell the cheapest helmets, because that's all anyone around here buys

I have an RF-1100 on the way. I was hoping it would get here tomorrow but I think Thursday is more likely. I went with black - matches everything

BTW, eBay prices don't look great for the RF-1100.

Bought mine at compacc.com for $309.99 (solid black). I guess they lied about it being in stock but only took a few extra days to get it shipped.

Ordered last Wednesday. Should be here on Thursday this week. Nice to have something to look forward to

This is my first non-budget helmet (I know, I know), though I know it's still mid-level. After a few hours in her, I must say:

Great airflow, never felt so much air getting to my scalp when desired
SO LIGHT! Much lighter than anything I've played with
Very quiet, as in, I worry less about permanent ear damage with these Satos
Really large visor view. The world is clear and pretty.

I went through Helmet Harbor due to their excellent customer service (the physical shop is in Gilbert). Really happy with this helmet and now I know, you can get quite a bit more when you spend more.

What did you end up paying? When I got mine, compacc.com was the best deal I could find.

Since I don't remember, which isn't unusual, did you buy a new bike, a new helmet, both, neither.............. I'm tired and groggy this morning, so forgive either my laziness and/or forgetfulness.
