GMAX GM68s Review

I've had a GMAX GM68s for about 18 months and nearly 12,000 miles. I bought a medium because it fit well. Now, it doesn't fit correctly. It is getting loose. The cheekpads are getting soft and don't hold my face as well. The padding in the top has loosened to the point where I can now stick my finger between the helmet and my forehead just past my first knuckle. I have a HJC helmet that I'll be wearing (that does fit properly) until I can buy a new one.

The helmet is also getting noisy and the vent system on the top is starting to come unglued. It was a good helmet for one year. I guess I shouldn't expect much from a $130 helmet.

For an extra $20 you can get an older scorpion EXO-700. My local stealership wants $389+taxes. I called Helmet depot and got it to my door for about $200. I have had mine about the same amount of time and it still fits. Venting is incredible. Quiet as well. I love mine. You can pick up an EXO-400 for even less. My wife and daughter both have them and the love them. Check them out.

I checked out the Scorpion EXO-1000 and it seems to squeeze the side of my head pretty good. I figured that was just a headache in the making. The HJC helmets seem to fit well.

I'll probably go to the local-ish dealers and find one I really like, then get it for 1/2 the price online. If dealers would price accessories at 10% above internet pricing, I'd buy local. Seems like all they ever do is push MSRP.

Another thing I don't like about my GMAX is the lack of high-density foam below and in front of the ears.
