New Rider from NC

Hey guys, from NC new to the forum. Had been posting a little bit at honda599.com. My first bike was a 2006 599 that was recently totaled when I was rear ended. I came out OK for the most part, I was really lucky, but I plan on hoping right back on as soon as I can. Going to pick up a 2002 919 to replace my previous bike tomorrow. Look forward to getting to know you guys, and hopefully gaining some knowledge since I'm a noob.

Welcome!
That looks like a nasty wreck if that's it in your avatar, glad you're OK.

Yeah it sucked, went over the bars on onto my face for a slide, but I was wearing proper gear and it saved me from major road rash. I just tweaked my shoulder and wrist when I hit the pavement, and my knee must have clipped the mirror on the way over. (good excuse for bar-ends on the new bike )

Sorry about your 599 but welcome to The Bigs in owning a 919! Tons of info in here. Go to the naked section and there is a sticky thread all about helpful 919 issues.

Welcome to the forum. The 919 is a very very very fun motorcycle. Where-abouts in NC do you live? You should consider purchasing a newer 919, and then head up to Williamsburg and snag my 2007 from me. Haha. Don't ask me why I have the urge to sell my bike, I don't have a concrete answer, I think I'm just a bike whore.

Enjoy your stay here on this forum. A great place to hang out and chat with other motorcycle enthusiasts, even if you don't own a 699/919. Great group of people.

I'm in Elizabeth City, I work in Chesapeake VA, the 919 is gonna be my commuting/fun machine. I would loved to have found a newer 919, but my budget has me pretty limited. I found a 02 with low miles though that seems to be very well kept up.

My new 919! I plan on chopping that fender, possibly some exhaust, and some bar ends pretty soon. 2002 in near perfect condition with 11k on. Haven't got my plate off the wrecked bike yet, it's killing me not being able to ride it, the weather's great right now.
