I'm 38 I have been riding street bikes since I was 15 and I own a full service motorcycle shop in El Cajon Ca. I own a custom built by me 2004 Honda RC51 and a Honda 2007 CBR600RR track bike that I'm currently working on.
Here is a pic of my 04 RC51 which weighs around 420lbs with a full tank of gas ready to ride down from 488lbs stock and a list below of what I have done to it. I use this bike for the canyons and track only.

Thanks I have worked very hard on my bike. The garage is 900 square feet, air conditioned, 120/240v with a bathroom and attic storage with epoxy floor coating.

I didn't even want to do mine....lol I have to redo the floor this month as it's been almost 4 years since I did the floors not to mention the all most dozen full length shelves I had to carpet.
Thanks for all of the compliments I have a lot of time and money into my RC51 and I don't think I could ever sell it as they only made the Nicky Hayden edition 1 year. Here are some more pics I hope you don't mind but I'm very proud of my bike.

The SP1 was 2000-2001 and the SP2 was 2002-2006 and only the 04 was the Nicky Hayden autographed edition with the silver frame and silver swing arm with the autographed fuel tank.
All other RC51 had a black frame and swing arm and no autograph. The 05-06 were the only all black models with 06 being the last year RC51 that came to the USA.
I had one...Sold it. They can be found again if you want them...Mine didn't have anywhere near the money you have in yours though Man can we get outta hand with mods
I owned an 01 and 02.... I am very aware of the bikes.... I guess I just find it funny a sticker of someone's autograph is put on the tank and suddenly it is in the name of the bike. Nicky was not even on an RC in 04.... but whatever
To me it will alway be an 04 RC.... since every 04 came that way - Not a limited edition. Just as every 00 came with a blue oil filter, and every 01 does not have swing are spools and every 03 has a black tail and a V on the nose, etc...
I like the white number plates.... to me that is more important than a sticker replica of a signature. But that is just me.

Haaa yep! I laugh to myself everytime someone thinks the ol pig is special. I had a matching set, 02 and 03, a race and street with custom paint. Nice bikes but nothing outstanding, especially compared to late model VTwin and liter bikes.
CB400RR has done a nice build on his. All the right stuff is added, to make it a sweet RC.

Well since it was the only year to have the silver frame and swing arm and all RC51s were made in very limited numbers compared to the rest of the bikes it's special to me and I could care less if anyone likes it or not as you’re not riding it I am.
I also have no problem keeping up with and passing most riders no matter what their riding as most people have little to no comprehension on bike setup for the canyons and track.
After all who cares if you have the latest and greatest lightest highest horse power bike if you can't ride it worth a damn, I have passed guys on GSX1000R on my 1990 Honda CBR400RR and I know I didn't have more power than they did.
I also have no problem keeping up with and passing most riders no matter what their riding as most people have little to no comprehension on bike setup for the canyons and track.

All I am saying is that if you took your RC to a track, threw down your best laptime, then jumped on a newer 600cc, newer twin or late model liter bike you would most likely drop your laptimes by a few seconds. I know, I've done it!
Simply because the new 600s and up have just as much HP if not more, handle just as good, if not better and are a ###tload lighter and faster. That's all! But you throw ear rings on a pig, dress it up, you still have a pig! I loved my RC's, just callin it the way it is. No need to defend the RC51. Alot of us are in the club.

All I'm sayin' is the RC is the most fun to ride slow laptimes or not and Scott can ride whatever but loves his fat girl a bunch !!!
Well in my 23 years of riding and racing motorcycles I have owned and or ridden almost everything you could imagine. I have owned a Yamaha YSR50, Kawasaki 250 Ninja, Yamaha FZR400/600, 2 GSXR1100, Yamaha R6, Triumph Daytona 955I, CBR400RR (grey market), Honda RC51, Honda CBR600RR and a few others I'm forgetting.
The last time I took my RC51 to the track I passed 23 of the 25 riders on the track and there was a mix of 600, 750 and new 1000cc machines. I have found the way I have my RC51 setup I can pass 90% of the riders I run into with little problem, but like I said most riders don't take the time to setup their bikes so maybe that makes it a more even playing field for the extra weight and less horse power.
I do know my RC51 has dropped over 60lbs which makes it just as light as the lightest bikes out right now and I'm around 20hp and 10 foot pounds of torque up from stock.
I also have a Honda CBR600RR 2007 that I'm building to HRC superbike specs that will be a lot of fun and easier to race on the track as it will be almost 100lbs lighter than my RC51, but the V-twin thump and the whine of the gear driven cams is a very sweet sound to hear not to mention having power from 3k all the way to redline.
I also like the fact I can go to the track, canyons, bike night or any other bike event and not se 50 of the exact same bike I have sitting there looking like a clone and the fact that each dealership got 1-3 RC51s a year compaired to the 30-40 of each color GSXRs makes my bike special to me.
