Talking New 919 owner from OK

I just wanted to finally introduce myself to the forum. The 919 is my 3rd bike and my first bike since being hit by a car. My first bike was an 04 600rr track bike converted back to street. My second was an 06 FZ1. I always wanted the 919 but those bikes were cheaper. lol After taking a break and healing up for a couple of years I managed to pick up an 07 919 pretty cheap.

I just joined the forum and I think I should already thank LDH and g00gl3it for all the info. The vids are gonna help me alot. I do have some questions for you guys though.

1) I was wanting to know if a F3 shock will fit a 919?
2) I have a D&D exhaust from a 900rr but I think I've read somewhere that a D&D won't fit the 919.

Sorry to start off with questions but those are pretty important to me.

Welcome Slowpoke! Glad you came back to riding!!

Not sure of the F3 but the F4i seems to be a common upgrade. Should be some threads on it.

Some people have put a 900rr Header on the bike and have gone to a low single side exhaust. The D&D may work in that case. Again there are some threads about the 900RR Header.

Welcome sir, congrats on the new bike. Since you got a red one, you really should change your username to "byebyeblack".

Hello and welcome. Lots of good information here.

I'm a huge fan of the single sided exhaust conversion... so if you want to re-use your D&D exhaust, you can probably go that route.

Oh, and...

Welcome!

I have spent hours and hours reading over the various threads here for over a year now. On a daily basis I still come across threads that I have not yet read. This happens almost every time I do a search. It's amazing how much information is here.

I searched F3 shock and there was 5 pages of hits. It appears that the F3 works, but only with some significant mods. The spring rate is too low and the valving has to be redone because of the F3 linkage versus the 919 no linkage differences.

Here is one of the many threads:

Another Shock Possibility

Thanks for the great welcome and help guys! I'm gonna try and get some pics posted tomorrow. I've been really busy. It's amazing how much info is here. It's almost overwhelming. lol I'm gonna use the D&D for sure. I love how the tail looks with the 900rr exhaust. The reason for asking about the f3 shock is because I may have come across an ohlins shock from one for stupid cheap. I just have to confirm it's an ohlins. All the stock shocks I've seen have red springs and this one's yellow. That's all I know for now.

Howdy.

My first bike was a Kawi 100 enduro in Tulsa.

Hey there slowpoke! We'll have to get together sometime and go for a ride! I'm just outside of Tulsa. Don't know if there are other 919 riders in our area, but it would be great to organize a ride once the weather cools down a bit.
