Hello to another person in Texas! When you say South Texas you're not kidding. I've been to Harlingen and Brownsville several times, but haven't been out your way yet.
If youve been to harlingen bville it takes me 30 minutes to get from Lajoya at 7 in the morning to Harlingen with a quick stop to put gas (Just incase) in pharr On my sportster it took about 15-18 and on the FXR it took 15. Now this is with full lane splitting when needed and perfect condition (Saturday morning less traffic cops at wataburger)
Houstons nice, Went to Dallas last year (oringally wanted to go visit family) and ended up going for a funeral (person we wanted to visit) Great area's good shops out that way. Not sure I would like the riding though or the snow. lol
When I was looking at bikes I almost got a Buell just for that reason, but I didn't know much about their reliability and my dad was much more comfortable with me taking a Honda off to college. 45-50 mpg is nothing to snub your nose at though. Lol.

oh yeah My top speeds 95 down hill full tuck on the bike with the wind at my back at 40 degree weather lol
I normally ride 70 -80 all day and still get good gas mileage with a passenger put 5000 miles in 3 months so im happy with it, normally I break a bike in 6 months and this ones lasted me two years now so I figure thats a good thing
not a bad deal spade! you say you lane split, is it legal in your area, do cops turn the other way when its done or are they hard asses about it? how do the locals respond to it?
Its on the fence from my understanding but since I dont ride a sportsbike its not that big of a deal.
Sportsbike riders in this area tend to run so they get a chase (no ins. license ect) this far south its mostly people comeing over from Mexico as well so unlicensed people are a big factor.
Man I miss Wataburger good joint....when you can't get it any more that is. I lived in San Antonio and San Angelo for a little while. Never had a bike when I lived in Texas.

yeah they're good buuuuut.... in & out is sooo much better!
Hey Spade. I lived in the RGV for years. Lived in Edinburg and McAllen, went to HS in Mercedes. Also lived in Lubbock for a couple years. Texas is a great state.
I like it H.E.B. makes some good burgers out my way too (Off of shary they opened up one) 5 bucks gets you the drink, burger and fries 50 cents more cheese on your burger and its a Bacon cheese burger. ALSO another HEB (near STC) has good chinese food cheap and good riding distance from a few thrift stores I goto. (I bought TONS of motorcycle jackets for 2 bucks a peice)
Damn... I want a burger now. We don't have any of those mentioned above, except Arbys. We have a lot specialty burger joints though... including Red Mill... double bacon cheeseburger is in my near future

I think the Harley-Buell thing is a real shame. A lot of good things could have come of it. Darn corporate downsizing. If Rob's new race bikes are as good as they appear to be, then Harley will realize what they missed out on.
