NJ, NY, PA Meetup?

There's a few of us around, any interest in a northwest NJ meet & ride?

Maybe, depends on when and where. I'm in western NY so it'd be a day long ride to get to NJ.

There's a couple of places to eat within about 20 mins of the NY or PA border or we could adjust the meeting point to somewhere in the middle of the furthest two who want to attend, I'm pretty flexible on the meeting point. I was thinking sometime within the next two months, I personally don't like to start out in anything much less than around 40deg. or so.

Welcome back Jon. That's a big move.

Hope all is well. January riding is gonna be a wee bit cooler.

Thanks, MMike, good to be back...yeah, it's a big move...but then again, it ain't like we had to pack up the show in a covered wagon and haul ass across 3,000 miles of danger-ridden territory like our ancestors. PODs, planes, a rental condo--really--how bad is it?

Isn't there some 7-lakes region between NJ and NJ?

Sounds good to me. Let's pick a day(hopefully a Sunday) and see what happens.

We just returned home from and 8 day jaunt into WV and Southeastern Ohio. The wind on Friday was interesting on the highway to say the least, but nothing like the Great Plains.

Just over the line into NY Port Jervis has some nice roads. Most are probably from north Jersey anyway.

Nesty, gpzTurbo, frankly. were are you located?
Ken, where in NY are you?

Alright, below are the rest of us as of right now.
What do you guys think: Somerset, Hunterdon areas? There are some nice scenic hill roads in that area. We can also ride up to Delaware water gap.

I did some fishing at Round Valley when I was younger, grew up in Long Valley, nice area but I'm not farmilliar with the roads there. If you want to do a Poconoes ride I can help with a route, just did Poconoes, Hawk's Nest, High Point ride today.

well, I'm not that familiar with roads up there either, makes it more interesting.

I pretty much know every turn in 20-30 mile radius of 08514, that's about it.
Been to High Point, that's about 3.5 hr ride for me. I'm not really familiar with that area, it's sure nice up there

Today's ride started with a 30 mi run on backroads to get to the Hampton Diner in Newton for bfst (about 10 mi as the crow flies), then 519 to 23 through High Point into Port Jervis NY to 97 through Hawk's Nest to 590(PA) into Hawley PA to 390 S. to 447 S. to 611 to 46 E.(back in NJ). About 200 mi round trip, it took about 6 hrs. with a few stops including breakfast and coffee/pee stops.

dang, man, I took a "long lunch" and did my first run through up through 94 to 23 to 519 N then back 519 S to 206 S and back to work.

519 S seemed to be a bit more challenging than the section of 519 N after 6 and 84. I've heard 608 is good and 517. About 130 miles total, my "long lunch" was about 3 and a 1/2 hours.

if you're from central Jersey High Point can't be 3.5 hrs. I'm down south across from Philly and it only takes me 2 hrs. +/- . Of course that is going up cr519 on the turbo.....

Anyway, wherever the meetup it's not too far.

Zip Code: 08827

The best roads surround High Point as a central hub.

Pa: Pocono Mountains & The Endless Mountains(just a little farther west).

NY: Sullivan & Orange Counties
The Catskill Mountains

NJ: Sussex, Warren, and Hunterdon Counties

Just my 2 cents.

C'mon. I can see 2 hrs if you take tpk during off peak hrs. There is no way to make it to the Point from my area on mostly 1 lane road for 2hrs without a single reckless driving ticket.

I'm glad you're not too far from me. We can meet somewhere near by and ride up there together

Niagara Falls is awesome but that's a LONG ride for the NJ folks, Duke.

I did a meetup with northeastern ST1300 riders a few years ago in Cobleskill, NY. It's close to some great riding roads in the Catskill Mountains and just east of Cooperstown NY (Baseball Hall of Fame). It's about four hours from Trenton and Rochester, so pretty much in the middle. It would be an overnight but so would any destination that's central to most NJ, NY, and PA riders. Just a thought....

18040 for me.

I like the area of Somerset, Hunterdon a ride up to Delaware water gap would be good. I recently rode a route from the gap down to Easton that is pretty good too.

Nesty, for some reason google doesn't like 07954 zip code?

Anyway,

so far we got 11 guys. Ken is not shown on the map, if I zoom out, he makes the rest of us look like we are all in one spot
We all know he is coming from Rochester, NY. Nesty is somewhere here, between NJ and NY, his zip doesn't come up. Also gpzTurbo isn't shown, he is somewhere close to Philly.

Since RMB started this thread, he has the honors to propose the spot and date .

drew and gpz, we can meet somewhere in Central Jersey and ride up there together if you wish.

I think Nesty's in Parsippany, within 20 mi of my place. I'm going to start working on a route, work is crazy right now. I know a few really good roads in Sussex Cty., I don't want others to have too long a long run to get to the ride though. My quetion is this: once we're all together, how long of a ride do you want to take? Do we want to stop for lunch somewhere? I think everyone coming from the south can get to Sussex Cty. in two hours or less.

Would it be helpful for some of the rest of us to provide partial routes that could all kinda inter-connect into a good ride? Maybe we could do a circuit that starts around central Jersey and runs up into Sussex in the areas you know, then across the Water Gap and down along the Delaware for a while to somewhere between Riegelsville and New Hope, and then back across into NJ. That might help split up a nice long route and take some pressure off you.
