there are 2 types of bikes I plan on owning in the near future a gl1800 and something with a twin in it for being a hooligan on and the superduke is currently at least in the top 2 thanks to you.

It was an leftover '08, last year imported to the USA. Dealer sold it new with full 2 year warranty for $8500, MSRP was $14,398. Last I knew they still had another one sitting in a crate in the back.

He bought it retail I assume? I'll be honest, if I could only have one bike, this probably wouldn't be the one I'd choose. Luckily I have a sport tourer and a dual sport in the garage as well, so having a purely hooligan machine makes sense for me.

I'm toying with the idea of buying a large displacement adventure tourer, something like a Yamaha Super Tenere, BMW GS, or the new Triumph Explorer 1200. I'd keep the Super Duke of course but sell my FJR and XR650L, think the adventure bike would sufficiently fill the void left by those two.

I think you would really like an Adv. tourer. As tall as you are the extra leg room would really be advatageous.

1500 miles? I believe that that is a crime in 56 out of the 57 states.

Your bike is beautiful!! Just a side note, my neighbor HAD a 1250 gs --09 or 10, and continually had injector issues and no start problems. Do some research if you're thinking, b/c he heard after he traded it that a LOT of people were having the same issues. Dave

Thanks Dave, appreciate it. Don't actually think I'm a GS guy anyway, have ridden my buddy's R1200GS a couple of times and it didn't really do it for me. Bought my ex a F650GS and that thing is a pain in the ass to work on, just changing the oil is a major operation. Need to ride Hoosier919's Tenere and see how that feels, I'm a Yamaha fan after having two FJR's.

Thanks Allan. I can understand if someone paid $14K+ for this bike, then compared what else you could purchase for the same price, that it might seem overpriced. I'm quite happy for the price I paid though, not sure what else out there compares for the money. All depends on what you want, I already have a sport tourer and a dual sport, had sold the 919, and wanted to replace it with another naked hooligan bike.
