Well me and my wife finally did it. We went to the dealership and bought a brand new 08 SV 650. What little I have rode it, it seems awesome, and the wife absolutely loves it! It is a silver/gray color (very cool), and I love that blacked out frame. This is the first brand new bike I have ever bought and I am pretty proud of it, I cant wait to start putting miles on it with her. We have been looking at them for a while and finally said piss on it, lets get one. I was trying to sell her previous bike first, but couldn't wait. I think I might have found a buyer today, but I said that once before and was wrong so we'll see what happens. The kid drove like 2 hours to look at it, and seemed super stoked so I am hopeful. By the way any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated. Also if any one has any ideas on pipes I would like to hear them, we were thinking maybe Scorpion slip ons after the break in process (I cant wait!!). And any good ideas for fender eliminators, I priced them at the dealer and for a little piece of metal they want like $120! Yea right! Anyway I am thrilled at the new bike and think it will be perfect for her (and me), cant wait till it stops raining.
It surely accelerates much faster than her old bike. Make sure she is observant of her buffer zone's obstacles before pushing the launch button. It's time to plan some weekend vacation rides!
Congrats!! I like the sound of a yoshi on the SV, the dealer's fender eliminator kit is very sturdy friend has it. It does retain the orginial lights and all looks good don't now if he paid that much for it. But he bought the 2up delete and front cowl all paint matched from his dealer for not too much I thought. It really looked sweet I'll see if i got some pics
I think there are a couple to many stickers but each to his own he loves it!! Oh and I'll see if he can get an audio/video of the yoshi exhaust for you.
There's a little hole that lets water drain out of the front spark plug hole, be sure to keep that clean and unobstructed or you'll have that front cylinder cut out riding in the rain.
The newer ones have a little rain guard flap but it can still short out.

I am very interested in that fender eliminator kit. I really wanted to keep the stock turn signals. If you could maybe get a price and where/how to get it that would be cool. Pics would be a bonus, but Ill take your word for it, anything is better than that long ugly mud flap taking away from those sweet tail lights. Im not much of a sticker fan but that red SV looks awesome. Thank You!
Thank you ajcombs for the link, and pics for the fender eliminator, I will keep that in mind. I still might make my own. As far as the pics of our new bike I will have to see if the old lady knows how to put them on here, cause I sure dont. I am computer stupid! Taking her bike to the track: probably not, but you never know. Taking it on the back roads and and seeing what it'll do: you bet (only when she isn't around.) Its her new baby, so I'm barely even allowed to ride it even though I put the down payment on it. She will ease up when the "newness"
wears off, besides its still in the break in process so I cant even have any real fun yet anyway.
