My NEWEST winter project done

well my biggest and most expensive single day project started off at 9:30 this morning looking like this

and after a few hours of dealing with retard and a little crying after the first asshat broke the front fender of the 9er (good luck to him)
I ended the day lookin like this

now i know not the most logical bike to go for but its one i could afford w/o a loan with a fairing, that i hated the idea of scrathing the shit outa the 9er with soft bags and i fuked with it too much to put hard bags on. this one i dont care right now

Got a red '01. Nice bikes. Happy thoughts when you wrap the throttle on the thing.

Looks like you put your discarded 919 turn signals on the Superhawk.

......the superhawk benefits from some of the same upgrades as the 919. Fork and caliper upgrades a plenty.

Superhawks are fun bikes!

The Superhawk makes a pretty good sport-tourer, except they don't get the best of fuel mileage... But still great, and fun bikes...

well got my bike back to running condtion so i could finally take it for a test drive.so far i have done:

-new tires pilot road 3

-new clutch and brake fluid flush- SS line are in order but not right now

-DIY CCT done

-TPS set to 495 was at 900ish

-cleaned carbs i was amazed that it even ran b4 emulsion tubes were nasty. down side was it has a DJ kit in it, but seems to pull ok for now.

-carb sync and final tune

-lubed throttle cable/ linkage so smooth now

-test drove while it was nice out (suppose to snow again tonight )

tonight im doing a oil and filter change and coolant. fix a few cracked pieces of plastic then start saving some money for the cool mods

it is a different ride for sure than the 9er, but when i pulled out to pass a line of cars at 45mph and hit the throttle in about 4th gear tooks seconds to pass (though the 9er could do that too) but i looked down and was doing just over 130 i was like OMG, felt like 80 on the 9er because of the wind. its great cant wait until it warms up a bit so i can really go out and ride.
the only down side is the seat postion, little cramped for my out shape been a long winter ass... but that wont take long to get used too. i hope

Cool. Watch your fuel level too on your first few outings - they drink a lot more than the 919.

Hope your weather starts turning for the better....Would like to here a first hand ride report and a 1st hand opinion on the fuel thing.I had an eye on one a few years years back but I just could'nt live with a 100 mile + or minus range as described. Would absolutely love to have one if the mileage thing is de-bunked..

well its been a very busy summer and i have not been able to ride much. im getting close to the 2k mark but all the damn roads keep washing out so it very unsafe to do much spirited riding.
things done
sargent seat still not sold on this yet
apex riser clip on bars- worth their weight in gold less than $200 like conveti bars just nicer

race tech springs, slider bushings, oil and seals so much better than stock, still has a long way to go but its not bad either. real easy to set sag now, there is 0 stiction in the front end now.
i am searching for a HRC jet kit for it as i have read that they are the best for the hawk but not holding my breath.

overall the 9er is a better bike it does everything well. but with the stuff i have done and going to be doing to the hawk i hope to be able to do the same plus some.
here are some pretty recent photos

i have the fork tubes powder coated flat black new DB windscreen, hi temp paint with cermic coating on the head pipe, and high temp powder coat on the mid pipe. which does not work well on Stainless steel.

lol old thread but i brought it back last night. this "yellow thing" will be just as great some day soon. starting with performace this time though. suspention will get work done first then brakes then when i have any money will get painted.
i plan on pulling the motor and powder coating everything that can be, which is everything. and painting it up. not sure on colors yet but it will be great.

Spaz.

That Yellow thing (of which I had the exact same model and year) has more character than a 919 will ever have.

(Sorry guys, but the truth hurts. I'm heavily biased towards the Yellow Superchicken)

That is a fine steed indeed, 3d.

I had high Jardines on mine, an ignition advancer and it was rejetted. 104.7 RWHP, 67.8 ft lbs.

I miss it, and your post helps me feel better when I see one like yours in such incredible condition.

BRAVO!!!!

i was thinkin about getting high mounts but not right now, im more interested in finding a way to mount saddle bags which has always been a problem of mine, even with the 9er cant find anything that looks good and if i change the exhaust to much that just makes it harder

I'm not kicking out any suggestions, there.......................................It's just so exciting to see that bike like that!

I could easily go back to the SupeChick if I found one like yours.

I think you'll be fabricating your own mount for bags.

It's sort of convenient that the tail section comes off in one fell swoop for exposing the frame underneath.

wow time to bring back the old thread again, just thought i would update it.

the bike just sold 2 days ago. I could just not get comfy for long rides. and around here i have to stop every 80 miles for gas. that just does not cut it for me. the 919 could squeek out 180miles. next up vfr800. look at a bone stock 02 with 20k miles.hoping to get it for $2800
