When I finished my 919 mods, I came across one of the bikes I always wanted, a Massimo Tamburini classic exotic Italian superbike. Not a 996 nor 998, but still a 916 kin, the 748 is plenty enough since my track days are over. These bikes are so sexy!
I thought I was going to leave it stock . . .yeah right. The mods began shortly after my first ride!
Let's see. . .
- Monoposto 748S conversion ("S" version has number plates)
- Carbon fiber everything that was black plastic, including mirrors and radiator cover
- EBC rear rotor
- Custom LED integrated rear tail light/Custom LED flasher relay
- Custom fender eliminator
- Keyless racing gas cap
- Front number plate
- CORSE racing stripe on front fender
- Satin black powder coated Marchesini wheels
- 998 Brembo lightweight front rotors
- German billet gold anodized clutch pressure plate and black anodized spring retainers
- TPO polished stainless steel clutch springs and bolts
- Dzus 1/4 turn body hardware
- DID 520 ERV3 Chain
- Luckily, the full Termignoni exhaust system came on the 748! BIG $$$
- PC III also came on it
I think you all had seen what's under the cover, a classic road racer. . .here are a few reminders:
In the above photo, the wheels are the "off-the-shelf" classic American Racing Torque Thruster universal Ford bolt pattern wheels. Shown below are "Maybelline's" new wheels from PS Engineering molded after the early '60s magnesium racing version of American Racing Torque Thrusters. These are custom cast wheels and machined just for the car, which are wider and with the correct offset to tuck under the fenders. These wheels are a piece of art.
Forget the bikes, I'll take the car! I grew up working and hanging out at a shop in New York called Eastern Mustang Specialty in the 70's and 80's. They restored Mustangs, Shelbys, Cobras, and Panteras. The owner was a crazy little Italian guy and his name was Bob Aliberto. For years he has been racing a Wimbeldon White/ Guardsman Blue Shelby GT350 with Webber carb set up called "Trigger" and a Black GT350H at Limerock Park in Connecticut. He recently bought an ex-Trans Am car to play around with. He has a few "regular" Mustangs, Fairlanes, and even a right hand drive 289 Cobra. I used to go to the Shelby Conventions, once at Pocono Raceway, and once at Dearborn. Ah, the memories!

I would love to get my hands on a Shelby quad double downdraft intake manifold with the four double downdraft Webbers!! $$$$ I'll stick with the single quad Webber.
BTW, early last year, I almost bought one of the first Ducati 1098s. Rather, I'm really happy to have the soon to be classic 919 and the already classic 748. . .and still have money in the bank!! --- Thanks for the compliments!!
Ive got a buddy who has a brand new, never installed set of Ohilins forks and shock for that bike - cheap - Im thinking he told me he needs to get 2k for the set, if you intrested -

My inverted fork front end is from an RC51 SP2 (mint legs from Ebay and custom fab triples). . .if that's the Ohlins set (RC51 front and 919 rear) your friend is offering, that is one mighty fine cheap deal. I'm fine with my current set up.
BUT, if the set is for the Duc, then that's something I'm interested in!! Hmmmm. . .does he have pics??? CHEAP, CHEAP!!!
The thought does cross my mind every once in a great while. . .but the family always seem to put my feet back on the ground. "You'll regret it." Or. . ."Sell the Ducati and the Honda BEFORE you think about selling ol' Maybelline."
