Well, one week after purchase of my 748 (in much need of attention) and having gone over the misc. nuts and bolts to assure everything was as it should be....I took her out this morning to Shady Valley to ride the Snake. Here's a couple of me leaving the house (shot by the "better" half):
30-something miles later arriving at the store and grabbing some lunch:
Few more at the store (taking breaks):
Stopping along the Snake (US421):
And my tires upon arriving home........I think this is going to be a beautiful relationship we have going on here:
All in all, not bad for a first outing........can't wait till the next chance I get to get out there! Just wanted to share. Keep it shiny up boys/girls.
Cool, wondered when I was going to see some pics of your newest acquisition!
Yeah, didn't want to go too crazy textin 'em to ya, thought I'd share this way instead.
You'll get to see her in person over the GP week that I'm attending for the 3rd year in a row! Let me know if that opening parade thing is happening again, I'm in

Haven't heard yet but I'm sure there will be a Media Day kick off again, that rocked last year!
In 1915 T. Roosevelt said, in a speech to the KofC, "There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all. "

Im always curious why people gawk over Ducati's, I really dont think there so special. and how are they any better looking then all the other crotch rockets out there?

Dude, they're the Ferraris of the motorcycle world!

To me personally, I've never ridden a better handling bike and I've had my share of Japanese bikes. You also can't beat a twin for roll on power through the entire power band and not just at high RPM's like on inlines. You'd have to ride one to understand, but in the end it's a personal preference.........that and being part Italian, I'm partial to them
I've only had the opportunity to ride demo models of newer Ducs (848, Hyper 1100, Monster 1100s).
The two things that impress me the most are:
1- (as previously mentioned) ever-present power from low grunt to high speed, and
2- the buttery smooth shifting.
I hope to test ride the Streetfighter & the newly re-designed Multistrada this year.
How could I forget about the RC51... I rode behind one for a whole day of rideing and I had on major headache from that thumping sound...lol
The RC is an all around beautiful machine..........I just wish Honda would have done a front mount radiator instead of those stupid side mount units........that and find a way to divert the heat so your balls don't cook in traffic
I like the look of the Duc but I just like my Speed Triple better... The Streetfighter I test rode had some fuel delivery problems, the 848 felt anemic compared to S3 until I started to rev it out, but the 1198S... WOW! That thing was designed to replace waterboarding in city traffic but get it on a twisty road and my GOD it is sweet. More power than is really usable and so very light. I was nearly getting a knee down on a test ride without meaning to do so... It was so lithe and narrow... But, I live in the real world and since commuting is 80% of my bike's use, I needed something that I could live with during the week and still get my jolly's met on the weekend...

Jared, I wouldn't have bought this bike if I was planning on commuting on it all the time. There are much better bikes for that. This is the perfect bike for what I wanted to use it for............the mountains and the occasional track day
I would get another Ducati Monster if I wanted a commuter
Yeah, I hear ya... My car has been down since Dec 24 so it has been just the bike for me (not that I mind).

That sucks bro. Atleast you have a bad ass Triple to ride. I love that style, but I'd throw a Monster single headlight on it.............LOL! That's the only thing I was never a fan of on the ST, but man do they ride/sound sooooooo nice.

Ducati Omaha is going to have a demo 1198S soon... And they've got a demo Streetfighter right now.

On the new Multi I've still got the Jury out on whether or not I like it..........I'll say this much, it's much better looking then the last one.
The funny part was she saw/liked the old one.. homelier than the first 400lb loser of the Biggest Loser! I said "that's nice.." went to website and was so relived they updated it. 150HP, 87ftlb, ~475lb! What's not to love?!

My jury says the 748 is one of the most beautiful Ducatis ever. I would still love to get one - in yellow though. I still hope to have a Ducati some day, even if only for a year or two. A yellow 748 or something older, like an 851, or and a 750/900 SS.
