Anybody here with a Buell?

I picked up an XB9 (naked) yesterday. Probably the Most comfortable bike I've ever been on next to the Wing. Sure would be nice if we got a nice stretch of weather .......

i absolutly fell inlove with the look of the buells when i was lookin for a bike a year and a half back. the XB12Scg was my choice, i was completely ready to buy one but had to ride it first.

so i get to the HD dealer, and sat on one, man the ergonomics were SPOT on, SPOT FREAKIN ON! AND IT LOOKED BAD ASS!.... got out on the ride tho... and unfortunately that big ole clunky vibrator known ad the HD motor ruined it for me.... its a shame that HD didnt allow buell to use a good motor.... notice how HD killed buell as soon as they released the 1125CR.... the first legit buell with a NON hd motor.

great lookin bike man! hope u enjoy her.

Thank you Sir. I took a liking to them a few years back when I sat on one at a Harley demo day. The Ergo's are what kept the these bikes in the back of my mind and I always said I'd get one after I got all my keepers. The engine is no inline but geez the thing has bottom end like my CR500's. Its just way different than anything I've ever had before and.....my first Harley powered bike. Now I get to wear Harley crap and hang out at biker bars........NOT.
BTW, It doesnt seem to leak oil..Maybe it just gets burned off on that bottom mounted muffler before it gets a chance to leave a mark....

I know but I could do worse things...I, on occasion wonder what I'd have if I didnt have an addiction to those establishments with multiple stages with brass poles in the middle of them...But oh well, that was fun too..

ahahhahah

it was an interesting motor... least the 1200cc... it just didnt have the grunt i was looking for, and ran outta revs way way to quick... the 1200 had a very peaky torque / hp curve... it started way low on both, jumped up peaked, then headed back down... didnt seem like much thought went into the 1200...

i have heard the smaller motor in the XB9's is a better all round motor. There are tons of mods out there for the buels as well... check out the crank case breather mod, exhaust flapper mod, etc etc.

I think it is a crash damaged bike. It looks like the wheelbase has been severely shunting together!

But I jest in my most humorous way.

Excellent hoon machines and a lot of fun.

If you look at the statistics - super steep steering angle, short wheelbase the bloody things should be tank-slapping bitches at anything above a walking pace. They are not, but no one other than Eric knows why and he's not talking since HD gave him a length up the rear.

I am actually looking for a Buell XB9s right now. I rode one a few weeks ago and fell in love with it... the handling was great, and I actually like the rumble of the V-twin. It is a totally different ride than the 919, but it will be fun to have the choice between the 2 when head out for a ride.

I had what I thought was a verbal deal last Thursday that I was going to pick up on Saturday, but the guy sold it out from under me that evening

Looking forward to the ride report!

You don't need a butt-load of power to have fun, and I know I could have fun on that.

Your Bike looks great!!!!
Buell's are Amazing Machines built for a nitch that is not for every one. Some people love them others ehhhh not so much.
I hope you enjoy it and see the real beauty pure Hooligan

From my experience (A 99X1 Lightning) they are very responsive and are more stable at their top end then any thing I've ridden.
As for speed well if you wanted top end you wouldn't buy a Buell but 0-100 in a heart beat. Maybe you'll have more restraint then me in keeping the front end down!!!!

The Buell V-Twin works well in the twists and has an amazing sound (It set off a few car alarms back in n the day) The ss2r from Vance & Hines was a nice match for mine and to nd4spdbh point there are a ton of Mods and options for the Buell.

Good luck with it I cant wait to hear your tack and your experience with it.

Well I couldnt take it any longer so I suited up with some electric heat and took the Buell out for a little while today. Friggen awesome is all I have to say. Bottom end grunt from hell and the thing handles great. Got home and noticed that the lic plate was still on the bench in the garage....Whoops.
Never thought I'd see one of my bikes in a picture with a 4ft snow mound for a back drop.

It's only too bad they couldn't wedge that nice Rotax motor in it. Glad you like it!

Well they did, kind of...in 08. Would rather be on an inline Japanese litre bike as far as that goes though.

I had an 09' XB12Ss. Very nice Bike. I had the chance to ride an older Ss (07'), and I discovered what everyone was saying about the 'vibes'! That thing shook like no bodies business! My 09' was very smoot off idle, no vibes throught the bars or HD feeling at all! I think they made some significant changes to the motor, electronics, etc. in the later years. My wife had an 08' Scg and her's did not have any issues with vibration either (her's looked like a 'mini-me' of my Ss...). If you're really interested in a Buell, I would stick to an 08' and newer, and please add a Buell Race Pipe! it will change the power delivery in ways you can't imagine for an HD based Motor! I think mine was making 110hp to the wheel with the pipe and some tuning.

Buell

Well, got to ride my Son-in-laws 1125CR while visiting them in CA. If you think the XB12 has a lot of torque, try one of these bad boys.
This thing just has brutal torque and horsepower.
I can't ride it even close to its max, it is just awsome.

He had a Ducati 900 SS, and XB12 before this thing, and I've riden them all.

I liked the Duc the best, probably because of the riding position.

But, if you want pure brute power, go for the 1125.
