My friend has a KTM 450 4 stroke enduro. To do a complete oil change, he has 2 drain plugs, 2 filters and was 2 screens, whatever screens are. The whole ordeal involves laying the bike on it's side. I don't want any part of that. My next bike isn't going to happen til spring a year and a half from now, but I have pretty much decided that the next bike is going to have 2 cylinders and a handlebar. Super Duke, Tuono, Hyper Motard, I don't think any of the big 4 are going to do anything interesting for a while.
My buddy has ze Zoopah Dook R now for two seasons. He's a competent A level track day rider on a Gix 750 and sold his S4RS to get into the KTM. First season it wasn't setup well and I watched him get fired out of the seat on more than one occasion riding around up here on some sketchy NW mtn roads. This year he sorted the suspension (don't recall exactly what he did to the forks, but I believe they were off the bike), had that gawdawful plank of a seat re-foamed and re-covered, added a few bits here and there and now won't shut his bloody pie hole about it!
That said ... I think he slobbers over it at night in the garage and now I want to join the Orange Army, too. The 919 is destined for the sale rack.
The R has the firmer suspention, harder seat and a couple more ponies on top. I think the standard with a set of Acropovics would be the ticket for me.
A couple of weeks ago, I got an 09 KTM XC200-W. Cooool little woods bike. How they got so much out of a little 2 smoke is impressive. There is something about KTMs.
You would post this up Rod! I was surrounded by KTM's all weekend, kept saying how it was some sign from God that I should buy one. The Super Duke fits me well, I love the angular styling,it speaks to me!
