If you see the video, the handlebar/clutch lever is what did it, right as it smacked the pavement. Ouch.

Whew, nasty tank slapper. It just undulated back and forth and then WHAM! The bike slammed all that energy into the ground, and his finger just happened to be in between; that just plain sucks. He sure did hang on for a good bit though. I'm surprised he wasn't grabbing his hand or anything, adrenaline I guess.

Why can't you see it? I'm in the mid-west and it plays fine for me.

Anyway, after watching it a few times it kind of reminds me of the old tootsie pop commercial with the owl, with the motorcycle being the owl, and lorenzo's finger being the lollipop...

A one! a two! a three! CRACK!

You know. This is one more example for why race bikes should have hand guards. Its not just to stop brake levers from being applied while racing bar to bar.

They don't need to be full on bark buster looking things that could be an aero aid (so what if it is, these are GP bikes). They could be a simple bar covering the levers. They could even be speced in frontal area and cross section. Its an easy rule to make and it would save alot of broken bones (or missing bones).

I think rizoma makes some nice lever protectors like that, but what stops the bar protecting the levers from smashing the same finger?

Unless you coat the whole front end with nerf material!

My assumption is that his finger was between the lever and grip. The protector would be ridged. So it could not colaps onto the finger and smash it.

Same rigidness would keep the levers from being applied if two bikes got to close together.

hand guards-lever protectors

If you high sided, your hand could get caught and really get F'd up.

Unhappy

I think Spies is in bad shape also. He's probably done for this season. This really sucks.
