1/8 mile

Hey all! I havnt really been on here much for the past two weeks I have been away. But I am going to the local drag strip on thursday (hopefully) and I am just looking for some hints. Search turned up lots for the 1/4 mile, but nothing really for the 1/8th. Anybody race the 1/8th on here?

Which sprockets to run, i have a 15t on it right now which definitely helps the acceleration but its very tough to keep the front down in 1st and 2nd. And I have a 16t in the garage which makes it much more manageable. ???

Tire pressure?

How can I prepare myself to get good launches?

What kind of times should a newb put up?

Those are the questions I know enough to ask, ya'll feel free to answer the ones I dont know enough to ask also.

Thanks for all of the help....

I ran today, it was fun! I was only one of two street legal bikes there (the other was a busa) That was also the only other bike with a stock wheelbase. My best time was 7.5 and my best 60' was 1.87

I only won one race which was frustrating but it felt good to get that one. On the way back up to the track I stood it straight up and rode it just about the whole trip back to the start. Kinda got the talk of the track for that lol. Anyways I hate you all for not helping me, and I had a pretty good time.

sorry for not helping but I know didly about launching a 2 wheeler. If you had asked about an ATV or street strip car I could have wrote you a novel but 2 wheels is not my passion. I enjoy t but the ATV's and the ZR2 are my top toys The bike has edged out the street strip truck for now I think that's primarily do to it doesn't run right now.

I used to Drag alot in my Dub Day's. What I did was bracket racing, it's more about consistancy and improvement than it is beating the other guy.

These are some shots from my first time out I was 16 at the time.

Glad you had fun, I probally had a total of about 20 Trips down the track that day between the time trials and eliminations, it was one of the best times I had.

I want to take my bike out one of these days just to see how I can do.

What did they require as far as bike prep and gear?

Good stuff!

Best I could get my 919 down the 8th was in the 7.40's - you're times are good, 60' time amazing - you must be light!

I was pushing 300 lbs back then, but anyway......

Never could bust a ton, the 100 MPH mark was something me and my 919 never hit.

It has been a while, but I think the 15 tooth make the bike too hard for me to launch - easier enough to change and experiment with.

Recently, it's been an ancient CB750 SOHC for me at the strip. Mid eights, nothing too quick, but it sure is fun.

Thanks for sharing

Seriously, Have a good time. I've done a little bit on the 8th mile back in the day with my C10.

It's still boring though...Enjoy yourself none the less

I couldnt get it to 100mph. I was sitting right around 96-98 every time. I think with the 16t i will be able to get it down a few tenths of a second because i can launch so much harder.

Now, that time has got to be wrong -

Maybe a 6.8, I'd like to see the timeslip.

And 107 seems high unless you've done more than the standard mods - liven it up, yeah, you did a great job, got my attention!

Had your coffee yet?

Is this 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile time? If it's 1/4 mile, sounds amazingly quick. What mods do you have on that beast?
