it failed!

Posted 10-14-2009 at 11:00 PM by beefsalad

Half way to work, I turn onto the access road and hear what sounds like someone running over metal, and it feels like I'm the one doing it. WTF was that?! Maybe I threw the chain? I expected a completely different sound than that, and possibly the tire locking up. I pulled in the clutch and pulled over immediately. Hope of the bike, and my license plate is spinning in the wind. Cheap ass ABS fender eliminator failed. Fortunately I had my cargo net on, so I hooked up the plate by the bottom...

The bike budget just got a little bigger

Posted 10-13-2009 at 11:36 PM by beefsalad

I have no reason to spend money on a previously expensive venture (woman) so now I can start exploring other venues of creativity with the old iron steed. Not the worlds most tragic ending to a relationship, but her trust issues got the better of her. If there's no trust, there is no foundation for a relationship. !$%^ it. I'm better off single.

it's been a long time

Posted 08-25-2009 at 12:40 PM by beefsalad

Over a month since I've ridden. Vacations, vertigo, dead battery, broken visor lock...I can't wait to get back in the saddle. Vacation is over, vertigo has been 'cleared' by the doctor, battery is charged, and I should have a new lock when I get home today. Too damn hot though to go out when I get home. Maybe I'll ride to training in the morning, and bear the heat on the way home.

Sometimes, having the crap scared out of you is a good thing.

Posted 06-22-2009 at 09:36 PM by beefsalad

I'm not sure if this is one of those times. My bike has 'fallen out' of 2nd gear twice in the last week, both times it has scared the out of me. Both times it was after shifting up from 1st gear. The first one I was coming up to a corner and had just shifted from 1st to second so I could take it smooth and hop on the highway at 60+ (it's one of those nice 270 degree uphill loops) I ended up cramming it into first so I would have power around the corner. I guess that's a good exercise...

The wobbles, now the squeeks?

So I was riding home yesterday "night" (actually morning for the rest of the world) and once again the squeek appeared that I believe I mentioned in my wobbles post. It definately is coming from the front. I'm starting to wonder if I am doing something wrong when installing the axle. I followed TFM and the post here in the helpful topics post. I just re-read TFM, I didn't miss anything there. I'll get it up on the stands later today and rip the tire off...again. Anyone near San...
